If you are not creative enough to harness the explosive energy of the mob, there is another simple but effective way of generating quality traffic to your blog or website. It is called: leveraging the power of social media.
There are about a hundred websites that are highly trafficked by internet users. Most of such sites are social networking sites, blogs or forums, and they are free registration for members. Such sites also have very high page ranks and search engine prominence.
In order to position your new blog or website for reasonable but indirect traffic, you must join, subscribe or register as a new member of these networks. After joining these sites, dedicate one or two weeks to become active commentators, alongside your regular blog post. Be conscious to leave a ‘footprint’ like a link back to your new website or blog.
These hundred or so sites can be mostly found in the Top 2000 Alexa ranked sites in the world. Some of them like DIGG may require that you submit snippets of your blog posts in relevant section of their sites.
Other examples are Digg, Slashdot, Fark, Reddit, StumbleUpon, Netscape, MySpace, FaceBook, YouTube, Techcrunch, BoinBoing, Engadget, Nairaland, Perfspot, etc.
